Infertility & IVF

For couples who experience difficulty in conceiving, it can certainly be a challenging and emotional situation. I am committed to supporting my patients throughout their journey – from the very first consultation to the safe delivery of their much desired baby. My philosophy is to ensure a complete work-up of my patients, and offer the most cost-effective and least-invasive treatment options, tailored according to their individual circumstances. I conduct fertility and IVF services in partnership with IVF Australia, the largest and most advanced fertility service provider in the country.

Given my academic and clinical acumen, particularly in the field of Reproductive Medicine, I am uniquely placed to offer a complete range of fertility-related services, including:

  • Complete fertility assessment (male and female), including assessing ovarian reserve
  • Cycle and Ovulation tracking
  • Investigation and treatment for recurrent miscarriage
  • Endometriosis and PCOS
  • Ovulation induction
  • Intrauterine insemination
  • IVF/ICSI
  • Options for donor sperm/egg
  • Same Sex couples
  • Egg, sperm and embryo freezing
  • Reproductive Surgery

Following successful fertility treatment, I am delighted to offer patients the option to continue their pregnancy care with me.

Minimally Invasive Surgery

Making the decision to undergo surgery is undoubtedly a difficult one. I ensure that my patients are fully educated on all facets of treatment – conservative, medical and surgical – and constantly supported throughout their decision-making process. I have dedicated years of training to acquire the skills to perform various gynaecological surgeries through minimally invasive approach, both laparoscopy (“key-hole surgery”) and hysteroscopy (examining the uterus with a mini telescope, without making any cuts).

Patient safety and achieving successful surgical outcome are my priorities. My patients can contact me directly should they have any concerns at any point before/after their surgery.

Below are some examples of the various procedures that I routinely perform:

  • Total laparoscopic hysterectomy (removing the uterus via key-hole approach)
  • Laparoscopic myomectomy (removal of fibroids via key-hole approach)
  • Laparoscopic cystectomy (treatment of ovarian cysts)
  • Laparoscopic salpingectomy (removal of fallopian tubes / permanent sterilisation)
  • Laparoscopic excision of endometriosis (see “Endometriosis” section)
  • Hysteroscopic polypectomy (polyp removal)
  • Hysteroscopic myomectomy (fibroid removal)
  • Hysteroscopic resection of endometrium (treatment of abnormal uterine bleeding)
  • LLETZ / cone biopsy (treatment of cervical abnormalities)

Endometriosis

Endometriosis is a potentially debilitating chronic inflammatory disease affecting 10% of women of reproductive age in Australia. In addition to infertility, endometriosis is often associated with chronic pelvic pain, which can lead to emotional and socioeconomic sequelae. I have a long-standing research and clinical passion on the subject of endometriosis. My overarching approach is to ensure patients receive the most effective and complete treatment, both medically and surgically, in order to achieve their desired outcome – whether it be fertility optimisation and/or symptom control.

I actively conduct clinical research on the topic of endometriosis and infertility and am currently leading a randomised control trial (RCT) to investigate a novel surgical technique to optimise fertility outcome following surgery for endometriosis.

Gynaecology

I take pride in being able to treat all aspects of gynaecological conditions, both medically and surgically, if necessary. My approach ensures that patients are thoroughly supported and fully informed of all treatment options. Below are some examples of the various conditions that I typically see:

  • Management of abnormal CST (including colposcopy)
  • Fibroids
  • Endometriosis
  • Ovarian cysts
  • Menstrual disorders
  • PCOS
  • Abnormal vaginal bleeding
  • Contraception (including insertion of IUD)
  • Menopause

Obstetrics

I absolutely enjoy Obstetrics and have continued to provide this service to all my patients. My Obstetric practice covers both low- and high-risk pregnancies. I strongly believe in the importance of continuity of care and have made myself available to patients throughout their pregnancy and delivery. I do not participate in group practice which means you can be assured that you are receiving care from your chosen specialist at every step of your journey, including weekends and out-of-hours. To ensure that I can focus on individual patients and minimise disruption to the care that I provide, I actively limit the number of patients I look after.
